Siz & Mary Wedding

Siz and Mary are just the sweetest couple ever every time I pointed my camera at Mary, I was greeted with a great smile I’m sure their children will have dimples. One thing that I always try to do but often lack the time to do so is to try something different than the line up in a row group shots and I was really happy that I got given the time to do so, it was great that we had an even number of bridesmaids to groomsman all in nice matching outfits. The first image is of the sister of the bride also one of the bridesmaids who I spotted while walking up the stairs of the Mary’s flat one of my personal favorite photojournalist shots I have taken this year, I just love that light hitting her face.

Martin & Emy: Back where it all started

September 1, 2011 No comments yet

Martin and Emy celebrated their marriage with a cosy wedding  attended by a small group of friends and family. The ceremony itself was held at Bromley Hall in Bow which holds a special place in my heart as it was where I shot one of my first weddings under the banner of Docklands Photography. Unlike my usual weddings there was no rushing around, lost relatives, DJ turning no turning up and all the usual drama associated with large wedding parties. The reception was held locally to me at the Gun which is a lovely Gastro pub on the Isle of Dogs near Canary Wharf, it was ust a perfect day for two very lovely people. The remit from the bride was to have some sepia and aged looking photos to match her vintage styled lace bridal gown.

Bulent & Geraldine

Bulent and Geraldine exchanged their vows at the wonderful Foxhills Country Club in Surrey, the weather was very much touch and go as you can see from the rain clouds over the bride making her way to the ceremony but luckily there was a break in the rain which allowed us to get the group photos. This is the first time I have photographed a bride in a black dress which makes a refreshing change.

Simon & Mei

It was almost like I was destined to be Mei and Simon’s wedding photographer, they share the same names as my parents and in fact when I first got their email enquiry I thought it was my mother playing a prank. Their wedding ceremony was at Hall Place in Bexley which coincidentally is one of the first venues I shot as a professional wedding photographer hence is one of those places that stuck in my mind and it was lovely to be back where it all started off. Simon and Mei are such a wonderful and sweet young couple and their friends were so warming which created a lovely atmosphere for the day despite the weather being a bit drizzly at times. From a photography point of view I should mention firstly I was joined by the excellent Ammy from Ammy Lam Photography as my second shooter for the day and I really need to give her credit for some of the photos including the great candid shot of the three groomsmen sorting out their button holes and the shot of the child in the pink waistcoat playing with his dad during the ceremony take from high up in the gallery. Evening reception was held at the Peninsula Chinese Restaurant where they held a traditional Chinese banquet followed by some amusing games played on the groom, I think I will hold back on posting those images on the blog !

Roger & Lien

June 21, 2011 No comments yet

Once again I have left a wedding with a song stuck in my head, this time it is  LMFAO Party Rock Anthem. This was one of the floor fillers that the DJ played at Roger and Lien’s wedding, even the parents joined in with the boogie. Roger and Lien exchanged vows at Buckinghamshire Golf Club which was one of the loveliest grounds and courses I have seen for a while with rolling fairways that that puts some of the greens I have played on to shame. All credit to Roger who seem to have an end to end smile every time I pointed my lens at him and who would blame him, he is married  his gorgeous wife Lien who looked stunning. It was also nice to reunite with some Kenny and Loretta who’s wedding I photographed last August in Windsor. Roger delivered an emotional and heartfelt speech and it was clear that he had a close bond to his grandmother, which reminded me of Loretta’s wedding where I remember seeing the same thing with her grandmother. After attending so many weddings, I feel they are not only a celebration of matrimony but also one of the best opportunities for people just to say thank you to their loved ones.

Tom & Chean

June 21, 2011 No comments yet

Dancing on the Ceiling by Lionel Richie was my lasting memory when leaving Tom and Chean’s wedding. Some weddings I photograph, the guests take a while to warm up and dip their toes onto the dance floor, not in this case where the DJ tore the house down with  Lionel’s classic 80’s hit with all the guests joining in after the first dance.  I have to thank Tom and Chean for being just incredibly nice and providing me with such a colourful and memorable wedding to capture. Proceedings kicked off with the ceremony at Dulwich College, even though I have been in London for a number of years, this was not a part of London I had visited and Dulwich which is just lovely, although relatively close to central London feels very much like you are in a village in the countryside. Moving on to China Boulevard in Wandsworth where the evening ceremony began, kicking off with a nice drinks reception moving on to a Chinese banquet and finishing off with the dancing.
