Running low on light always is my main concern when penciling in sunset shoots but the sun seemed take it’s time. It was only because I looked up at the Big Ben that I realised it was 9pm. As usual when photographing around tourist destinations tourists inevitably want to get involved, either by shooting over my shoulder or wanting to take a picture with my couple, all harmless though I always warn my couples. I will be photographing Peter and Pui Fong’s big day which will be next month. A special thanks to their friend and Peter’s best man, for helping out with the off camera flash, I apologise but your name escapes me all the time? Ralf ?

Walking around Brick Lane is always a great place to find colourful graffiti backgrounds to shoot my couples in but what caught my eye was a light up sign which I used a a main light source to take the below portrait.

It was almost pitch black by then so I placed Matthew and Edith as close as possible next to the sign and set ISO to 3200 which is the usable limit for the 5D Mk2. All in all I was very pleased with the final image. Nice wrapping light providing the modelling on the groom’s face.

Below are images from the engagement session of Matthew and Edith, Edith flew over over from Hong Kong where they will be married later on in the year. Images were shot in location at the Thames Barrier Park and Brick lane.

Improvisation is the key, we were waiting in brick lane, with the video light, slow shutter speed all set to blur in a light trail waiting for a car bike to come by, the law of the sod meant nothing drove past and with the guys getting cold standing around, I asked the groom to be to walk behind Edith and took four consecutive shots to produce the below composite.

I have been looking forward to Anthony and Kathy’s wedding since I photographed their engagment shoot earlier on in the year, and their big day lived up to their expectations, it was a lovely sunny day perfect weather for a wedding. Bridal prepartions began in Herne Bay followed by the ceremony which was held in the Radisson Hotel in New Providence Wharf and finally the evening ceremony which was held at Yi Ban Restaurant. It was a long day phew ! It was also the first wedding where I have attempted to perform a same day slide show showing the guests photos shot earlier in the day. This did not exactly go without a hitch there were problems with the restaurants audio system and I learnt the hard way that there are two types of DVI cable and my mac DVI was not compatible with the plasma where I was showing my slideshow. Like most IT problems there usually is a solution and I ended up borrowing one of the Groomsman’s laptops, thanks again by the way and exported the slideshow as a Quicktime movie.
I cannot upload the exact slideshow as I used a Leona Lewis track which is copyrighted but below are some of the images taken from the same day edit.
